Important Update About Our Banking Systems

An Update on Our Restoration Progress
Progress
Additional systems were restored to core processing overnight, including ours. Restoration efforts are continuing as outlined in last night’s update. Environments are being brought online in sequence, and our systems will be restored as this work progresses.
Order of Restoration
The restoration process has not changed. Core processing remains the first priority. Online and Mobile Banking remain unavailable, even now that core processing is operational. These digital services will not be restored until core processing has been restored for all affected credit unions. Once all core systems are back online, Online and Mobile Banking will follow.
Timing
Restoration efforts will continue throughout the day. At this time, we do not have a confirmed restoration time, and we do not want to provide a timeframe we cannot confidently stand behind.
Important Reminder
There has been no data breach or unauthorized access to your data. This remains a service availability issue, not a security incident.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as restoration efforts continue.

Dear Valued Member,
We want to provide you with an important update regarding the service interruption currently affecting some of our banking systems.
First and foremost, your money is safe, and your personal information remains secure. This issue is not related to a cyberattack, fraud event, or data breach.
We understand that many of you rely on South Texas FCU every day to access your accounts, receive direct deposits, make payments, and manage your finances. We recognize how frustrating and concerning this disruption may be, and we want you to know that we are working closely with our core processing provider, Sharetec, to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.
What Happened?
Our core banking provider experienced a significant infrastructure failure at the data center that hosts their systems. The issue was caused by equipment damage following a cooling system failure at the facility.
Although this has impacted the availability of certain services, the recovery process is focused on protecting the accuracy and integrity of member account information. The priority is to ensure that your account information is accurate when systems are fully restored.
Where Things Stand Today
We received encouraging news from Sharetec this morning.
Their teams worked throughout the night and have moved from preparation into active restoration. Core banking systems are being restored, additional infrastructure has been brought online, and recovery efforts are progressing.
Restoration will take place in phases. Systems are being carefully brought back online and validated before services are restored. While progress continues, Sharetec has advised that recovery efforts will continue throughout the day and that they do not yet have a confirmed timeframe for full restoration.
Yes.
There is no indication that member funds have been lost or compromised. The recovery efforts underway are specifically designed to protect the accuracy of account information and transactions.
No.
This is not a cybersecurity incident. According to Sharetec, the disruption was caused by a data center infrastructure failure and not by unauthorized access to systems or member data.
Yes.
Sharetec has confirmed there has been no data breach and no unauthorized access to member information.
We understand that many members may be concerned about payroll deposits.
Although access to our systems has been affected, there is currently no indication that incoming deposits have been lost. Sharetec’s recovery process is focused on ensuring that all transactions and account records are restored accurately.
Sharetec is taking a careful approach to ensure account information remains accurate before each system is returned to service. While we all want services restored as quickly as possible, protecting the integrity of member accounts remains the top priority.
At this time, Sharetec has not provided a specific restoration timeline that they are confident in sharing. We understand that this uncertainty can be difficult, and we will continue to provide updates as soon as additional information becomes available.
Our Commitment to You
Our team is actively monitoring the situation, maintaining ongoing communication with Sharetec, and doing everything we can to assist our members throughout this disruption.
We recognize that this outage has occurred during an important processing period, including payroll deposits for many members, and we understand the inconvenience this has caused. Please know that restoring service and supporting our members remain our highest priorities.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued trust in South Texas FCU. We will continue to keep you informed as new information becomes available.
Sincerely,
South Texas Federal Credit Union
